Darul Hikam
Alappuzha, a land of breathtaking natural beauty, is often referred to as the “Venice of the East.” With its serene backwaters, vast canals, and vibrant coastline, this historic region has long been a hub for traders, travellers, and cultural exchange. Among those who arrived on its shores, the Arabs played a pivotal role, not only in trade but also in introducing Islam to the region.
Great Sadaths and scholars, including renowned faculties from the prestigious Al-Azhar University in Egypt, enriched Alappuzha’s religious landscape, establishing centres of learning that upheld the profound legacy of Islamic scholarship.
Nestled on the northern edge of Alappuzha, bordering the tranquil waters of Vembanad Lake, lies the village of Panavalli, a place where ancient Islamic traditions continue to thrive. It was here, four decades ago, that the revered Sufi saint, Saifullah Yusuful Qadiri (RA), founded the Qadiriyya Majlis. Known for its soothing spiritual Dhikr gatherings, this institution became a beacon of faith and enlightenment.
In 2010, on the silver jubilee of the Qadiriyya Majlis, Darul Hikam was established, a centre of excellence that integrates both spiritual and academic education. Over the past 15 years, it has nurtured nearly 150 young scholars, many of whom have memorized the Quran, completed the Da’wa course, and are now serving across the country or pursuing higher studies in various institutions.
Darul Hikam Excellence Residential Da’wa School, launched in 2024, is a pioneering initiative that combines traditional Islamic learning with modern education. Designed for exceptionally talented students, the school follows the CBSE curriculum up to the higher secondary level / Plus Two while simultaneously providing in-depth spiritual training up to the Mukhtasar level.
This institution is committed to shaping a generation that seamlessly blends classical Islamic wisdom with cutting-edge advancements. Graduates from Darul Hikam will not only be well-versed in the Quran, Hadith, Fiqh, and Tasawuf but will also gain expertise in AI, coding, robotics, and foreign languages, ensuring they are equipped to engage with the challenges and opportunities of the modern world.
