SHEIKH M.Y. ABDULLAH MUSLIYAR PANAVALLY

1. Sheikh M.Y. Abdullah Musliyar Panavally was born on 7th November 1957 in the serene and charming village of Panavally, nestled in the northern edge of Alappuzha district, often referred as the Venice of the East, gracing the banks of Vembanad Lake.

2. Sheikh Abdullah Musliyar was born into a family adorned with spiritual grace. His father, Sheikh Yusuful Qadiri (RA), was a revered Sufi and scholar, a luminous beacon in the realm of spirituality, who was nurtured under the guidance of Sheikh E.K. Umarul Qadiri (RA), walked in the blessed shade of Sheikh Saeed Sirajuddinul Qadiri Ayilakkad (RA), and deepened his understanding and tasawuf with Sheikh Puthiyappila Abdurrahman Musliyar Panayikulam (RA). His mother, Nafisa Hajjumma, was a pillar of piety and wisdom, whose nurturing presence played a crucial role in shaping Sheikh Abdullah Musliyar’s spiritual and intellectual foundation. The soothing atmosphere in their home cultivated devotion and wisdom, fostering his connection with spirituality from an early age.

From an early age, Sheikh Abdullah Musliyar was deeply engaged in the pursuit of Islamic knowledge. He began his studies at Hayatul Islam Madrasa in Panavally, where he developed a profound understanding of the Quran and the essence of Islamic teachings. Under the spiritual light of his father and esteemed mashaikhs, he absorbed the fragrance of divine wisdom.

4. His thirst for sacred knowledge led him to learn under eminent scholars within and beyond Kerala. His father was his first mentor, while his initial madrasa teacher, Abdur Rahman Musliyar, was a disciple of E.K. Umarul Qadiri (RA). He refined his Quranic recitation under Ahmed Kutty Musliyar Pattambi, a saintly figure renowned for his mastery of the divine word. Embarking on his dars (Islamic studies) in 1971, he first trained under Muhammad Musliyar Klappana, an immense scholar and a spiritual guide of prominent Sufi orders (tariqas), including the Shadhuli order. He further enriched his intellect through the teachings of Sheikh Shamsul Ulama E.K. Usthad, Sheikh E.K. Abdullah Musliyar, Sheikh E.K. Hasan Musliyar, Sheikh Ismail Musliyar Nellikuth, Sheikh K.C. Jamaluddin Musliyar, and Sheikh Musa Musliyar Vaduthala, traversing a journey of relentless pursuit from Kochi Mammu Surka Masjid to Nandi Darussalam.

5. In 1982, following the advice of Sheikh Shamsul Ulama E.K., Sheikh Abdullah Musliyar officially embarked on his journey of service. He undertook the role of delivering dars and khutbah (sermon) at Perumba Juma Masjid in Payyannur. The flame of his dedication illuminated various congregations, extending to Vaikom Nakkamthuruthu Juma Masjid, Vandikappally Muslim Jamath, Pazhunnana Muslim Jamath, Edappally Mahal Jamath, Panavally Manappuram Jamath Masjids, and many others, preserving the faith and guidance entrusted to him by his spiritual mentors.

6. His path was adorned with profound relationships with spiritual luminaries. He was granted Ijazat and Tariqat from esteemed mashaikhs, deepening his knowledge and practice of spiritual healing. Initiating his spiritual journey under his father’s tutelage, he traversed lands across India, the GCC, and Africa, seeking deeper insight into divine healing. His visit to spiritual sanctuaries took him to Iraq, Egypt, Palestine, Jordan, Uzbekistan, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam. The spiritual chains and permissions he received from illustrious mashaikhs, coupled with his association with great scholars like Sheikh E.K. Muhammad Darimi Al-Qadiri, enriched his spiritual legacy.

Sheikh Abdullah Musliyar has been honoured with Ijazats from numerous esteemed local and international Mashaikhs, further enriching his spiritual lineage. Among those who conferred their blessings upon him are E.K. Umarul Qadiri, Madavoor C.M. Valliyullahi, E.K. Ahmad Kutty Haji Mutichur, E.K. Abdullah Musliyar, N.K. Muhammed Musliyar Vaduthala, Sayyid Hibathullah Chavakkad, Sayyid Imbicthi Chaliyam, Munabihul Ulama Abubackr Musliyar Chaliyam, Sayyid Kochu Mannaly, Bhakir Sahib Nagoor, Muhammed Saeed Al Qadiri Aripra, Thazava Usthad, O.K. Abdussalam Musliyar Othukungal, Qalander Masthan Kayal Pattanam, Shuaib Alim Al Qadiri Kayal Pattanam, Sayyid Hassan Shadhadh Mecca, and Sayyid Abas Maliki Mecca.
7. Remaining committed to his father’s noble path, Sheikh Abdullah Musliyar became a guiding light in the realm of spiritual healing. Having observed and imbibed his father’s expertise from a young age, he cultivated his mastery in this sacred field. Completing the Riyala of Asmaul Husna early in life endowed him with the power to administer spiritual healing. His abilities were recognised by Sheikh Shamsul Ulama E.K. Hasan Musliyar and others, who entrusted him with treating those in distress. The distinguished orator Muhammed Kunju Musliyar Vailithara openly attested to the efficacy of Sheikh Abdullah Musliyar’s healing. Scholars from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka, past and present, sought his wisdom and recommended his guidance. For over half a century, he has been a beacon of solace, serving humanity beyond barriers of caste and creed.

8. In 2010, Sheikh Abdullah Musliyar established Darul Hikam, a centre dedicated to both religious and academic education, viewing the dissemination of knowledge as his sacred mission. More than 100 scholars and 30 Hafizs have emerged from its halls. In 2024, he founded the Hikam Excellence Residential Da’wah School, an innovative initiative blending religious and academic education. The Qadiriyya Majlis in Panavally, established by his father Sheikh Yusuful Qadiri (RA) four decades ago, continues to be a spiritual haven for thousands, conducted under his leadership on the first Sunday of every Arabic month through the auspices of Darul Hikam.

9. The SIM Academy, founded by Sheikh Abdullah Musliyar in 2014 with the blessings of distinguished scholars, stands as a bastion of spiritual knowledge. It imparts rulings on spiritual healing inherited from the mashaikhs to deserving seekers through innovative methods. Reviving long-neglected spiritual practices, the academy offers structured multi-phase courses, extending up to four phases, including Quran Therapy and Sufi Healing. Beyond Kerala, over 4,000 students, including sadaths and scholars from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, the GCC, Malaysia, Singapore, Europe, and America, have benefitted from its teachings. A prolific author, Sheikh Abdullah Musliyar has penned nearly twenty books on spiritual healing, including the ten-volume masterpiece “Safala Chikilsa Sagaram” and “Shamsul Asrari Wamaariful Ahrar,” composed in Arabic, Arabi-Malayalam, and Malayalam, serving as invaluable resources for seekers of divine wisdom.

10. His firm devotion to the Sunni movement has been a cornerstone of his life. In the early 1980s, he assumed leadership roles in the Alappuzha District SYS, marking his commitment to the cause. At present, he serves as the Alappuzha District Samastha Executive, the Cherthala Taluk Jamiatul Ulama President, and the Alappuzha Muslim Jamath Executive.
